- FACILITIES SUBJECT TO STORM WATER EFFLUENT LIMITATIONS GUIDELINES, NEW SOURCE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS, OR TOXIC POLLUTANT EFFLUENT STANDARDS.
- 327 - Cement Manufacturing
- 021 - Feedlots, Fertilizer Manufacturing
- 2911 - Petroleum Refining
- 14 - Phosphate Manufacturing
- 3511 - Steam Electric
- 14 - Coal Mining, Mineral Mining and Processing
- 12 - Ore Mining and Dressing, and Asphalt Emulsion
- MANUFACTURING FACILITIES: All of the following Standard Industrial Classifications (SICs)
- 24 (except 2434) - Lumber and Wood Products
- 26 (except 265 and 267) - Paper and Allied Products
- 28 (except 283 and 285) - Chemicals and Allied Products
- 29 - Petroleum Refining and Related Industries
- 311 - Leather Tanning and Finishing
- 32 (except 323) - Stone, Clay, Glass, and Concrete Products
- 33 - Primary Metal Industries
- 3441 - Fabricated Structural Metal
- 373 - Ship Building and Repairing
- HAZARDOUS WASTE TREATMENT, STORAGE, OR DISPOSAL FACILITIES: Includes those operating under interim status or a general permit under Subtitle C of the Federal Resource, Conservation, and Recovery Act (RCRA).
- LANDFILLS, LAND APPLICATION SITES, AND OPEN DUMPS - SIC code 4953: Sites that receive or have received industrial waste from any of the facilities covered by the General Permit, sites subject to regulation under Subtitle D of RCRA, and sites that have accepted wastes from construction activities (construction activities include any clearing, grading, or excavation that results in disturbance of five acres or more).
- RECYCLING FACILITIES: SICs 5015 and 5093. These codes include:
- metal scrapyards
- battery reclaimers
- salvage yards
- motor vehicle dismantlers and wreckers
- recycling facilities that are engaged in assembling, breaking up, sorting, and wholesale distribution of scrap and waste material such as bottles, wastepaper, textile wastes, oil waste, etc.
- STEAM ELECTRIC POWER GENERATING FACILITIES - SIC Code 5311: Includes any facility that generates steam for electric power through the combustion of coal, oil, wood, etc.
- TRANSPORTATION FACILITIES: SICs 40 (railroad), 41 (passenger), 42 (Motor Freight)(except 4221-25), 43 (USPS), 44 (water), 45 (air), and 5171 (petroleum bulk stations and terminals) which have:
- vehicle maintenance shops
- equipment cleaning operations
- or airport deicing operations.
Only those portions of the facility involved in vehicle maintenance (including vehicle rehabilitation, mechanical repairs, painting, fueling, and lubrication) or other operations identified herein that are associated with industrial activity.
- SEWAGE OR WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS: Facilities used in the storage, treatment, recycling, and reclamation of municipal or domestic sewage, including land dedicated to the disposal of sewage sludge that are located within the confines of the facility with a design flow of one million gallons per day or more or required to have an approved pretreatment program.
Not included are
- farm lands
- domestic gardens
- lands used for sludge management where sludge is beneficially reused and which are not physically located in the confines of the facility
- or areas that are in compliance with Section 405 of the Clean Water Act.
- MANUFACTURING FACILITIES WHERE INDUSTRIAL MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, OR ACTIVITIES ARE EXPOSED TO STORM WATER: SICs 20 (Food and Kindred Products), 21 (Tobacco Products), 22 (Textile Mill Products), 23 (Fabric Products), 2434 (Wood Kitchen Cabinets), 25 (Furniture and Fixtures), 265 (Paperboard Containers), 267 (Paperboard Products), 27 (Printing, Publishing, and Allied Industries), 283 (Drugs), 285 (Paints, Varnishes, Lacquers and Enamels), 30 (Rubber and Misc. Plastic), 31 (Leather and Leather Products) (except 311), 323 (Glass Products), 34 (Fabricated Metal Products) (except 3441), 35 (Industrial and Commercial Machinery and Computer Equipment), 36 (Electronic Equipment), 37 (Transportation Equipment) (except 373), 38 (Measuring, Analyzing and Controlling Instruments), 39 (Misc. Manufacturing Industries), and 4221-4225 (Farm Products, Refrigerated, and General Warehousing and Storage).
